Celebrating AgWeek

Thank you Alabama AgCredit!

The nice folks at Alabama AgCredit are celebrating farmers this week! We were one of the fortunate farms chosen to be recognized and honored with a catered lunch! It was fabulous!
We set up a picnic style lunch, overlooking the pond construction site. The weather was perfect...a little windy but lots of sunshine. Alabama AgCredit brought in delicious steak sandwiches, baked beans, potato chips, banana pudding and sweet tea from Gates in Aliceville. Everyone on the farm joined us for lunch and we all had a great time visiting with each other and admiring the pond's progress. In addition to the excellent lunch, we were each given goodie bags filled with wonderful treats (pens, notepads, hats, calendars, etc).

Progress on the Pond

Due to several weather delays, we are still pushing to complete the dirt work on our irrigation pond. When the weather is good, we are getting a lot done... when the weather is wet, we are at a stand still. Thankfully, the crew is willing to work long hours and do whatever it takes for completion!

I Thought It Was Saturday?!?!?

Just because the weekend rolls around, doesn't mean that work stops around here. Friday, Saturday, Sunday... just another day by another name. In addition to the pond, we've begun work on a bridge over a creek connecting two of our largest fields...
And the work goes on...

Annie Dee named to United Soybean Board

Congratulations Annie!
We are proud of you!

Another day, Another Irrigation Pond

After the success of our irrigation system we installed last winter, we have decided to give it another try on a larger scale. Tree clearing has begun in what will be our second irrigation pond lake. Although final numbers are not in, the preliminary size of this lake is set to dwarf our prior projects.

Here is the future pond site:

Seth and his digging crew began clearing trees so the dirt movers can come in and get to work. This is the progress from week 1:
