lots of rain leads to delayed planting

Despite the warm temperatures, we are on hold with all systems ready and waiting for the ground to dry out. Over the past 10 days, Dee River Ranch has seen upwards of an inch of rainfall. Most of which fell after the ground was already saturated from a previous rain. This led to localized flooding, especially around the creek.

This pictures were taken near the bridge that goes over the Bogue Chitta.

Irrigation

Now that our irrigation plans have been finalized, it looks as though we will be irrigating 2 fields. The first field is behind Mike's. This is where the pond was dug and, now, is nearly full. The field behind Annie's house will also be irrigated.

Since the work is complete behind Mike's, the focus is now on the other site. The pivot is up and now the pipe is being laid.

the new planter

The new planter was finally delivered yesterday! Everyone is excited to put our new John Deere 17CCS stack ride to use in a couple of weeks. Since the weather has warmed up to 70+ days, everyone around here has planting on their minds.
